Simple answers to your important questions
Beijing is considered a safe city for teens, with low crime rates and extensive surveillance. Petty crimes like pickpocketing or scams are the main concerns, especially in crowded tourist areas. Teens should avoid engaging with strangers offering unsolicited invitations and remain cautious.
Air pollution is another concern, particularly for those with respiratory issues. Teens should wear masks on high-pollution days and avoid drinking tap water. Food safety is also important; while street food is popular, it may pose risks if hygiene standards are not met. Traffic safety is a concern due to chaotic roads. Teens should use pedestrian bridges and crosswalks when navigating heavy traffic. Beijing also has regulations limiting gaming hours and entertainment access for minors to promote healthier lifestyles.
To stay safe, teens should carry a map or use GPS, keep a hotel address card in case they get lost, avoid discussing sensitive topics, and be alert to scams. By being mindful of these factors, teens can enjoy Beijing's rich culture and attractions while staying safe.
