Paris Travel Guide - Eiffel Tower
Eiffel Tower
The undisputed symbol of Paris, the Eiffel Tower is practically
a must-see, especially first timers in France. One of the
most famous landmarks recognizable worldwide, this huge structure
measures 320 m in height. It was built specifically for the
1889 Exposition Universelle (the World Fair) which
celebrated the centennial of the Revolution. At that time
the Eiffel Tower was the world’s tallest structure.
It was later stripped of this title when the Chrysler Building
in Manhattan was completed.
There are three levels of the Tower open
to the public. Naturally, the best view can be enjoyed on
the topmost level (3rd floor) but admiring the Paris skyline
from a dinner table at the Le Jules Vernes’ Restaurant,
located on the 2nd floor is not so bad either. The levels
can be accessed either by elevator or on foot. It’s
a fairly long climb but is sometimes preferable to the long
queues for the elevators. Guided visits are available for
those interested in a historic overview of the famous tower.
While learning French at a French
Language Course in Paris you'll have the chance to pay
this landmark structure a visit.
